Jenny Halstead
Jenny studied fine art before training in medical art and working in various teaching hospitals illustrating surgery and anatomy. She turned freelance and combined work in natural history including story books on dinosaurs for children.
A change of direction came in 2000 when she moved from this discipline back into the freedom of fine art. She works in oil, watercolour and pastel and was elected a Member of the Pastel Society in 2012 and Chelsea Art Society.
She ran painting holidays abroad, was Artist in Residence in the Harris Garden which resulted in a publication An Artist’s Year in the Harris Garden as well as Silchester – Life on a Dig and runs the Whiteknights Studio Trail which she co-founded.
Her paintings evolve from enthusiastic sketchbook studies, always looking for the unusual in the usual, light and shade, lost and found in landscape and figurative studies.
