Sonia Scott-Job
When I’m not outside, I’m probably in my studio, trying to recreate what I’ve just experienced outdoors.
It’s the capturing of movement and light in a landscape – and how to convey all that through my art – that captivates me. It might be the play of sunshine through the trees on a summer’s day; the twinkling of frost on a wintry morning; the gentle glow of autumn’s golds and bronzes… or the roar and soar of the waves as they crash against the coast… All these (and so much more!) inspire and make me want to stop, stare and share, more often than not with charcoals or pastels, and almost always getting my hands mucky as I like to meld the media into the paper, using a process I think of as 2-D sculpting to convey on paper the joy and awe that nature brings to me.
